Our Work

Wednesbury Connecting Communities (WCC) is a community-led organisation dedicated to supporting and empowering women from South Asian backgrounds.

We create a safe, welcoming and culturally sensitive environment where women can connect, learn, build confidence and improve their health and wellbeing. Through ESOL classes, health and wellbeing activities, fitness sessions, confidence-building workshops, community events and volunteering opportunities, we help women overcome barriers and reach their potential.

Our work focuses on reducing social isolation, health inequalities and barriers to participation, while helping women develop new skills, friendships and support networks.

We believe in empowering women to become more confident and independent and to take an active role in their communities. We provide opportunities for women to progress into further learning, volunteering and community leadership, enabling them to inspire and support others.

Our aim is simple: empowered women, healthier lives and stronger, more connected communities.

Women’s Empowerment & Leadership Programme

Supports women from South Asian backgrounds to become healthier, more confident and more connected within their communities.

Through a combination of confidence-building workshops, culturally sensitive fitness and wellbeing activities, and leadership and communication training, women are supported to improve their physical and mental wellbeing, develop new skills and build positive social connections.

The programme creates a safe and welcoming space where women can grow in confidence, overcome barriers and discover their potential. Participants are encouraged to develop their leadership skills and become community champions, inspiring and supporting other women to lead healthier, more active and empowered lives.

Our aim is to create lasting change by helping women move from participation to empowerment and leadership, opening pathways into volunteering, community involvement and future opportunities.

Entry Level 1 ESOL programme

Our Entry Level 1 ESOL programme, delivered in partnership with SLN, supports learners to develop practical English skills for everyday life.

The course focuses on speaking, listening, reading and writing, helping learners communicate more confidently and independently. Sessions also incorporate numeracy, digital skills and health literacy, giving learners practical skills they can use at home, in the community and when accessing essential services.

Delivered in a friendly and supportive environment, the programme helps learners build confidence, make new connections and progress towards further learning, volunteering and employment opportunities.

Our aim is not only to improve English language skills but also to empower learners to become more confident, independent and actively involved in their communities.
